Future Appletree Records
"Wow. Talk about an impressive debut. When local record label Future Appletree announced it was taking root last year, it looked promising. After all, the acts involved had all released superb CDs in the past. Future Appletree's output has exceeded expectations. Discs by the Marlboro Chorus, Driver of the Year, Seth Knappen, Chrash and Tenki are all among the best records put out in 2003. Each of them takes a unique slant on the traditional indie pop-rock formula and each has a distinct charm. All are worth a listen, from the Guided By Voices-type Marlboro to the dreamy soundscapes of Knappen to the Kinks-flavored Chrash to the Roxy Music/Beatles mix of Driver to the smart, introspective indie rock of Tenki. Each of the records is available at local music shops and all of the bands play sporadically around the area. They're definitely worth your time." - Sean Leary
"It has a stellar roster of acts -- Marlboro Chorus, Driver of the Year, et al -- and it continues to be a bastion of imagination, promoting excellent records and concerts in the Q-C and proving that an indie label based here can flourish." - Sean Leary

Radical Turf Records
Radical Turf is an eclectic record label pointing directions in modern music. As a new label founded in 2003, Radical Turf hopes to forge ahead and release new musical ideas and perspectives. While musical genre is less a concern than originality and ideas, Turf does hope to stylistically embrace the future while respecting the past. The first Radical Turf release, "Tales From the Oxygen Den" is a compilation album that features artists from various regions in the U.S. This album, we hope, will be a good representation of the diversity and expression we seek to build upon in all our upcoming releases.

"Radical Turf is pleased to announce the release of it's first compilation album titled "Tales from the Oxygen Den". Tales...is a diverse and playful show of electronica force. Featuring 11 artists from 5 different States in the U.S., Tales is a collective adventure into the world of frequency bliss, spider-web beats and colorful loops. Focusing on generative tones, IDM, d&b, ambient and the straight-up tweaked, Tales is sure to drop the science for just about any electronic musical taste."

GoGoGolem Records
The The Metrolites formed GoGoGolem Records to publish their own CDs. They, and thus the label, have disbanded.
Dingo Verona Records
Sean Leary formed Dingo Verona Records to publish the soundtrack to his play, Your Favorite Band. I think he will sign other bands next year.
Burned Alive Records
"Burned Alive Records is a new local indie label that is coming out swinging! With several projects in the works, and a good buzz going in the local underground rock/metal scene, look for releases that truly embody what the local hard music scene is about. The label's first release is already at your local Co-Op Records store. Titled "Terribles Est Locus Iste", this compilation features 22 original tracks from a diverse pool of artists." - Terry Johnson
